Release 0.82 went out on 6 October. Most of it is about categories: how shoppers find their way around a big catalogue, and how a shop that grew up on collections moves onto a proper category tree.

Categories take over from collections

A shop can now build its category tree straight from its collections, one category for each, in the same order, and switch its navigation over when it's ready. Old collection links then lead to the category that replaced them, so bookmarks and search rankings carry across. Collections that no category replaces can be hidden, kept out of search engines or left as they are, and they still work behind the scenes for content blocks that show a set of products.

Product pages follow the tree too. The breadcrumb reads Home, then the product's category and the categories above it. When a product sits in several categories you can choose its main one, and a cross-cutting category such as "Waterproof boots" can list products without ever appearing in their breadcrumbs.

Shop everything on one page

A new All products page lists the whole catalogue, with the same filters, sorting and search box as a category page. See search and merchandising.

A promotions screen

Promotions have their own screen in the admin. Take a percentage or an amount off the order, or give free delivery, on every basket or once a basket reaches a minimum spend or holds chosen collections or products. Each promotion has start and end dates and a priority, shows whether it's active, scheduled, expired or switched off, and can be switched off from the list.

Products that could cost you a sale

The products list has an Issues tab for live products that are missing a price, an image or someone to ship them, and each product's page lists its issues at the top. The list can also be narrowed to one collection, and it now opens on the products that are on sale.
